Falkland Islands, December 2016
We spent two weeks aboard the Hans Hansson circumnavigating the Falklands, going ashore at Sea Lion, Bird, New, West Point, Carcass, Grand and Steeple Jasons, Saunders and Pebble Islands as well as Grave Cove and Volunteer Point on the mainlands. Every excursion was stunning with many highlights, but one of the most remarkable was spending two full days on Steeple Jason with over 100,000 pairs of Black-browed Albatrosses. Throughout the Falklands it is possible to get very close to all the wildlife by just sitting quietly and letting it come to you. The Hans Hansson was superbly run by Dion Poncet and Juliette Hennequin, aided and abetted by Toby! Morten Jorgenson and Nozomi Takeyabu were perfect expedition leaders and we thank them and the crew of the Hans Hansson for making it such a great trip.
